The Monacan Indian Nation is now soliciting bids for Phase II of a project upgrading the water system in the Orchard Hills Estates neighborhood on Ridgecrest Drive in Amherst County. Phase I installed a new water main for the 28 households in this neighborhood. Phase II will be a design update to improve and automate the water treatment building and testing procedures, with details included in the below links. The tribe will be accepting bids until 15 May, 2026, as described in these attachments.
The tribe will be utilizing a blind bid process to ensure fairness and transparency for all applicants, and sending this RFP directly to contractors to increase confidentiality. All qualified drinking water system contractors operating in Amherst County are encouraged to provide a proposal.
Please reach out to the Environmental Program, with a copy to Chief Diane Shields and Tribal Administrator Rufus Elliott, with any questions, and plan to submit before 4:00 PM on 15 May, either digitally or in person at the tribal office in Madison Heights.
