- Until further notice, the Monacan Indian Nation will be closing each day promptly at 5:00 p.m. Visits from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. are by appointment only. Please contact the main office at 434-363-4864 to schedule an appointment if needed. Thank you for understanding.
- If you sign up for the secure website please note that it can take up to 5 business days for approval.
- The Tribal Office typically follows Amherst county schools’ closing schedule for extreme weather and hazardous conditions for at least the first day of a closing.
- Order your free COVID-19 Tests at the end of September 2024 by visiting COVIDTests.gov
The Tribal Office will be closed Monday, April 21st for the Easter holiday. We will we reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday, April 22nd.
The Monacan Flag is on display at the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington DC
After waiting for over a year, we have received word that the Monacan flag is finally on display.
It is on the 4th floor central hallway of the museum outside of the Nation to Nation treaty exhibit, and directly across from the entrance to the exhibit Unbound: Narrative Art of the Plains.

The Virginia College Advising Corps (VCAC) is offering free virtual FAFSA assistance to VTEC students through June 28, 2025. Students interested in this assistance should complete this form. A VCAC adviser will reach out directly to coordinate a date and time to provide virtual FAFSA assistance. All appointments will be held on a weekday and via an online video platform.
